Hereapps mission is to create apps that perform useful functions related to your phone’s location. We use GPS, the accelerometer, cell tower signal strength and wi fi network names to identify the phone’s location. We then use the phone’s motion (stationary, walking, moving in a vehicle) and proximity to a location of interest to decide if a location update from GPS is needed. The objective is to minimize battery use by the power hungry GPS system while providing useful location information to the app. Our first app is herehush, described here.
